February 9, 2023Unique Experiences Available at The Ainsley House for Visitors to Enjoy
February 10, 2023Milpitas BART Station Campus serves as a vital connection to the flourishing northwestern areas of Milpitas County. It was designed with travelers, visitors and commuters in mind by offering multi-story parking structure, bus services, bicycle & pedestrian facilities along with rail station features such as water quality treatment systems, lighting design, traffic signals and landscaping.
The SVBX project, a 10-mile BART extension from Warm Springs Station in Fremont to Berryessa Station in North San Jose, is comprised of the Berryessa and Milpitas BART Stations. When it’s finished, commuters will have an efficient transportation option for getting to Downtown San Francisco in less than one hour – offering convenient access for Bay Area residents and employees alike!
Design and Amenities
The Milpitas and Berryessa BART stations feature extensive bus and bike connections, with over 200 bicycles available to rent in paid indoor bike storage areas or through Bay Wheels. They also have paid and free bike racks, as well as BikeLink card-activated lockers.
Commuters can park at the Milpitas and Berryessa Stations, either long-term or for short periods. Advanced payment for long-term parking is required and can be made online or at on-site pay stations. The rate for long-term parking is $7 per calendar day.
A Look at the Art and Amenities
The Art Piece “Ecstatic Voyaging” is a series of twenty polychromatic columns that resemble ziggurats, creating a visually appealing and memorable entrance for the Berryessa and Milpitas Stations. It is a multi-layered, interactive installation that is inspired by the city’s many cultural overlays and traditions, as well as its agricultural and cultivated landscape. In addition to the art pieces, the Milpitas and Berryessa stations are highlighted by multiple features that help to elevate the ambiance of the transit centers. These include the curved, architecturally-inspired exterior of the Milpitas Station, the sculptural elements in the Milpitas Station, the colorful and uplifting artwork on the interior walls, and the beautiful landscaping that surrounds the campus.
Pedestrian Trails at the Berryessa and Milpitas stations offer convenient routes to local destinations as well as connections to BART, light rail and other bus services. The Berryessa station, in particular, has a new trail along Upper Penitencia Creek that is accessible to people of all ages and abilities and connected to different engaging areas. One of the biggest challenges with a BART station is bringing in riders who have never been on the system before. That is why the VTA has incorporated many features to make the new Berryessa and Milpitas transit centers easier to navigate for the first time.
Finally, your best option for getting around the Milpitas BART Station Campus is to take advantage of VTA’s new bike-sharing program, Bay Wheels. With Bay Wheels, you can pick up a bike from a designated station and easy ride to your destination or even explore the Silicon Valley area.
